The Morgan County Adult Day Care is located on the ground floor of the Morgan County Health Department. Adult Day Care is defined as a therapeutic social program of care provided for the 60+ population during any part of the day, but less than 24 hours. This care provides the participants with activities and also provides respite care for the primary care taker. (i.e.. The care giver can have a break from taking care of an individual 24/7).
Activities
Activities for the Adult Day Care include recreation, fine motor skill development, gross motor skills, socialization, nutrition, activities for daily living and music therapy. These activities are designed to meet the individual client's needs, abilities and interests. Staff will design activities to promote personal growth and improve participants functioning levels by addressing mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual interests and abilities of the client. Clients are provided an opportunity to plan and evaluate activities. Specific activities include: physical exercise, puzzles, playing cards, memory games, current events, and field trips to places of interest.
Eligibility
To participate in the Adult Day and Alzheimer's Respite Program, an individual should be able to respond and share in program activities without health and safety problems to self and others and should meet one of the following requirements:

A person age 60+ who is physically disabled or frail as a result of a medical condition or age and who needs supervision or assistance during part of the day

A person age 60+ who is mentally confused and needs supervision to prevent injury and assure proper nutrition and medication use

A person age 60+ who, because of emotional or social needs, may benefit from the individualized attention and the social structure available through these services which are not otherwise available.

A person of any age with a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer's or related dementing disease as confirmed by a written statement from a physician after a diagnostic evaluation.
