CSBG (Community Services Block Grant) provides Gateway the framework and necessary tools to support our efforts in the fight against poverty. The funding supports projects, which provide outreach and support services for clients at or below poverty guidelines, with an emphasis on services to children, adults, elderly, and persons with disabilities. LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) - The LIHEAP is a program that runs from November through March. There is an income guideline to meet. There are two components of the program. They are subsidy and crisis. They each have criteria that must be met to be eligible for the program. The purpose of LIHEAP is to assist low-income families with their home heating needs during the cold winter months. Link to pdf. brochure .

Winter Care - There is an income level to meet. These monies come from various utility companies and are donations made by the utility users.

FEMA - These monies are available only in Morgan and Menifee Counties. A local board sets the criteria for the program. These are emergency funds and are used only to help in crisis/emergency situations.

United Way - There are no income guidelines for this program. The consumer must be in a crisis/emergency situations.

Licking Valley - These monies are donated from the utility company and are used in conjunction with the LIHEAP. These funds are used to help consumers who have high utility bills that LIHEAP alone can not always cover.

Columbia Gas Energy Assistance Program and Kentucky Utilities Energy Assistance Program - These two programs are administered through the Community Action Council in Lexington. These programs assist consumers who use Columbia Gas or Kentucky Utilities Company for their home heating source. They must be LIHEAP income eligible. There is also other criteria that has to be met. These programs give a pre-set amount to the eligible customers to try and keep them out of home heating crisis situations. We have 41 customers on Columbia Gas (Montgomery Count only) and 41 customers on Kentucky Utilities (Bath, Montgomery, and Rowan counties).

Donated Funds - Donated funds come from outside sources and are used to help consumers with their needs. The funds are used to help as many consumers as possible. |
